Grand Canyon 1/11/12

Darlings,
Happy 1/11/11...did you make a wish at 1:11? Did you miss it at the AM? Well you had the PM!! Make a wish now on 1 and celebrate.

In Lady Yoga fashion, it is my goal to look back in history to see where we have come from, find the yoga in the moments past to keep us rooted in the present and passionate about where we are going in the future.
On that note...

On January 11th, 1908 President Roosevelt declared the Grand Canyon a National Monument stating, “Let this great wonder of nature remain as it is. You cannot improve upon it…but keep it for your children, your children’s children and all who come after you.”

More than 5 million people visit this pocket of earth that has virtually unchanged for 400 years. (80K acres, 7K above sea level)

Immovable, strong and marvelous - it stays virtually the same no matter what the weather or how many people walk all over it.

As individuals, we ARE movable. But we’re strong and stable in our foundation and determination in practice - staying balanced no matter what weather, people and challenges come into our life.

Observe and ride the peaks and valleys of this practice like the ebbs and flow of life. Let the breath serve you in and out as you move and hold postures.
The wind at the Grand Canyon is magnificent and it's mobile force supports the ground it fills and flows throughout.
Enjoy the playfulness as you explore the stillness between the movements, holding and letting go. Compression postures to detoxify, heat to let go, standing postures to strengthen, breathing to stay true to your intention and stretches to open up. Savor it all and stay steady.
